Artist of the Month Reception (December)

On Sunday, December 14th, The CSL Art Committee hosted an artist reception for Janice Joy Bell and her collection, Joyful Art, currently on display in Scott Hall throughout the month of December.

During her artist reception, Janice shared how her creative journey began in a very personal way—by making beautiful handmade cards and gifts for friends. What started as a simple act of love and connection slowly evolved into a deeper artistic practice, growing into something far beyond what she initially imagined. Her story was a touching reminder of how creativity often begins in small, meaningful moments and blossoms when nurtured and shared with others.

Janice creates whimsical, original works that reflect her deep love of beauty and her heartfelt desire to bring delight and joy into the world. Her pieces carry a sense of playfulness and warmth, inviting viewers to slow down, smile, and reconnect with a sense of wonder. Through her art, Janice shares an uplifting energy—each creation offering a gentle reminder that joy can be found in the simplest, most thoughtful expressions of creativity.

As part of the celebration, we held a drawing for one of Janice’s original pieces, and the lucky winner was our CSL congregate, Janet! Congratulations!

If you missed the reception, there’s still time to experience Janice's work. Her collection will remain on view at CSL through the end of December. You can stop by Tuesday through Friday between 10:00 AM and 3:00 PM. All pieces are available for purchase in the Rising Thought Gifts & Bookstore.
