Artist of the Month
(December)

Janice Joy Bell
Joyful Art was named in tribute to the most extraordinarily joyful woman Janice knows—her mother, Joy. It was her mother who gave her the first pack of crayons and encouraged her creativity throughout her life.

Though Janice once dreamed of becoming an art teacher, life led her down a different path. Years later, she rediscovered her passion for art and, in 2019, found her artistic focus in calligraphy, ink, and watercolor. When her work moved home during the pandemic, she was inspired to create a dedicated studio space and immerse herself in painting and learning—often with the help of YouTube’s generous community of artists.

Janice creates whimsical, original pieces that reflect her love of beauty and her desire to bring delight and joy into the world. She is honored to be selected as Artist of the Month at the Center for Spiritual Living and hopes her work brings a smile or sense of appreciation to all who view it.
Janice will be displaying her artwork in Scott Hall December 3 - December 31.
Her artwork will also be for sale! Visit the rising thought bookstore to purchase.
Opening Reception
On Sunday, December 14th the CSL Art Committee hosted a warm and inspiring artist reception for Janice Joy Bell and her collection, "Joyful Art." Janice shared how her creative journey began in a very personal way—by making beautiful handmade cards and gifts for friends. What started as a simple act of love and connection slowly evolved into a deeper artistic practice, growing into something far beyond what she initially imagined. Her story was a touching reminder of how creativity often begins in small, meaningful moments and blossoms when nurtured and shared with others.

Her artwork will be on display throughout the month of December. All artwork is available for purchase in the Rising Thought Gifts & Bookstore.
