Rev Tia Atkins joined the Christian church at the tender age of 14 after viewing a particularly scary movie about Armageddon in 1977. She made an informed decision about church affiliation in November of 2001 when she visited her first New Thought Church. It wasn't long before she realized that she was born with New Thought consciousness. She studied with Rev Roma Carlisle and Dr. Robert Winterhalter at the First Divine Science Church of St Louis, and completed her ministry training with Rev Dr Vicki Fothen.
